I almost never sleep. help!?!! 10pts best answer!
Question: I almost never sleep!. help!!?!! 10pts best answer
So!.right now it is 4:15am where I am!. Last night I went to bed around this time, and i got up at 8am!. I was really tired from about noon to 2:00pm, but then I just suddenly wasn't tired anymore!. Then night time rolls around again and now I'm not tired!. I don't understand how I can be doing for such long periods of time without a lot of sleep!. (this isn't a rare occurence!. This has been going on for months (with the occasional 8-9 hour night of sleep in between days and days of staying awake almost all the time!. It almost seems like unless I go the sleep the very second I start to feel tired, I cannot fall asleep no matter how tired I should be!. If that makes sense!?
I guess what I am asking here is if there is something I can take (non habit forming! non narcotic) that will work!. Also, how long will it work for!? (4 hours of sleep, 8 hours!?) also, I used to take tylenol pm but if i didn't allow myself to get at least 7 hours of sleep, I literally couldn't get up and function the next day!. Does anyone know of anything that allows you to fall asleep, but if you need to get up after only a few hours, you can go about your day without being practically non-functional!?
I am trying to figure it out!.!.and just so you get a good picture!. I think I have slept about 6 hours in the past 3 days and I'm tired, but not ridiculous!. I think I could easily stay up for 10 or 12 more hours before it got to the point where I just HAD to sleep!.
Is this like a sickness or a symptom of something!?
I know I am asking lots of questions in one here, but any answers you can give will be most appreciated!

Answers:
All sleep drugs are intended to give you the optimal 6-8 hours of sleep, so there is none that will let you be functional after only a few hours of rest!. Talk to your doctor and they might be able to prescribe something that isn't habit-forming!. They might also give you some relaxation techniques to use in conjunction with the drugs!. You might try going to bed earlier so you can fit in the full 6-8 hours!. You might also want to try music that is specially composed for bedtime!. Getting the TV & computer out of your room might also help!.
Try to think of what the root of your sleeplessness might be!. Are you stressed, in physical discomfort, in a bad sleeping environment, etc!.!.!.!? Also, if you find that you can go for several days without sleep and feel kind of "wired", that might be a sign of the mania associated with bipolar disorder!. Ask your doctor!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
