the difference as in appearance!? there pretty much the same thing!. sometimes to take rectal temp the thermometer may be more rounded on the top!. but all in all no difference!.!.!.!.!.besides where your sticking them!.!.!.!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Seriously though the oral one has a longer thin tip and the rectal one has a short stubby tip!.
