Bipolar Disorder(please read)?!

Question: Bipolar Disorder(please read)!?
I am not just another teen going through phases or maybe i am!. What ever it is i just need some reassurance things are going to get better!.

Im 15 and just graduated 8th grade in June and since then it just seems things are much much harder than usual!. There are some days that i feel so so so happy about something!. maybe i get to go party with my sister and her older friends or get something really really cool!. Then the next day when i wake up and i dont have anything to do but sit i can feel so extremely depressed and hate my life and treat friends horribly!. Then maybe a few days later i will be happy again and want to hang out with old friends!. I also can get so mad some days and contemplate suicide!. Then some days i wake up loving life and being so peacefull!. I dont know if i am convincing myself that im bipolar to come up with a reason for my crazy episodes or if i really am!. I forgot to mention that my dad has a severe case of bipolar disorder but is now medicated and has a great life!.

I have felt this way the past few years but over the last 6 months mood swings have become much more frequent and deeper than usual!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Its possible you are bipolar, but you shouldn't self diagnose!. It sounds to me like there is something going on right now that needs to be dealt with!. However, it could be something entirely different than bipolar!. The most important thing you can do for yourself right now is to go see a therapist and get evaluated for psychiatric disorders!. If it runs in your family though, that is yet another reason to get evaluated!.

To the first answerer, BPD is short for Borderline Personality Disorder, not Bipolar Disorder!. Also, you don't have to have had a manic or hypo manic episode for a week!. You just have to have a history of at least one manic or hypo manic episode (length is irrelevant!.) And, hypo manic and manic episodes can last anywhere from a few hours to several weeks!. It is NOT always set to one week, and the length of the episodes can vary from time to time!. So your post is inaccurate!.!.!. might want to re-research that!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It may very well be that you are just going through the typical teen mood swings, but with your knowledge of bipolar, you are more aware of them!. Or you could in fact be experiencing something more serious than the usual!. In either case, you should speak to a mental health professional who can help you with both diagnosis and treatment!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

There isn't enough research concerning inheritance in Bi-polar Disorders!. You will pick up the idiosyncracies and reactions to stress and anxiety and a few other things because he is your closest role model!. These symptoms you've described so far are mostly a character trait developed by the father and not substantiated as a symptom of Manic-depressive disorder!. Try a doctor if you 're not convinced!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Having a first degree relative with BPD increases your chances sevenfold of having it!. But it's not bipolar!. You have to have had a manic episode or hypomanic episode for a week to be considered bipolar!. But it could be depression!. I would consider going to a therapist or doctor and getting analyzed for mental disorders!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

You sound like you are going through normal teen age emotions!. The next couple years you are going to feel up and down!. TO be honest the only thing I cana tell you is it does get better! Life is o much better after your teen years! Good luck and stay strong!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Most likely it is just the high and lows of being a teenager!. The fact that it is summer, you have less to occupy your time and mind, Add to that that you are female and hormones swing!.

If your dad has bipolar he would be a great person to talk to!. He is likely as aware of your behavior as you are and is in the best position to help!. He would certainly be able to understand and offer some things that worked for him!.

Bipolar, in my understanding, is not so much tied to events as it is to other things like hormones and chemicals in the body!. It can also be more erratic in the high/lows and not so much over days!.

Glad you are aware of what is going on in your life!. Keep being observant and see if you can figure out if there are things that cause the changes!. For example, something you eat, weather, medication that you take for a common cold etc!.!.!.

Most importantly talk to your dad!. Tell him what is going on!. He probably notices more than you realize and he can certainly help more than any info you may get on Answers!.

Remember, you are perfectly normal and things will always change and get better!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
