they are looking for protein and sugars in your urine!.
protein is a sign of kidney and bladder problems
sugar is a sign of diabetes
it's also useful for them to have a normal/healthy urine sample so that if anything is wrong they have something to compare to!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

"If the urine sample was sent for urinalysis, abnormal results may indicate the presence of white blood cells, red blood cells, or excessive amounts of protein!.
If the urine sample was sent for urine culture, abnormal results may indicate excessive growth of bacteria, a urinary tract infection, or a bladder infection!."
Also, if the sample is really dark it is a sign you are dehydrated!.

Yes the test is for sugar in urine, possible diabetes, and various proteins, eliminate kidney disease etc, Its a good thing to have periodic checks of these along with blood pressure and cholesterol etc!.
