Answers:
I used to have a big problem with insomnia, and I can offer a bunch of ways to help you to sleep better!. You can try of few of the approaches below, and see what works the best for you!.

Depending on the season, a warm bath with lavender oil or whatever oil is most soothing for you, is a great way to relax both your body and your mind!.

There are herbs that are helpful for sleep, eg, valerian root, kava kava, chamomile, hops, passion flower, catnip!. If you get the real herbs, you can make teas out of them!. In capsule form, they are available in most health food or vitamin stores!. You can try a single herb or combinations of herbs!. Probably, valerian root and kava kava are the best!. There are also homeopathic remedies, eg, coffee cruda & others, that might work!.

What was very helpful to me, especially when my mind was racing, was to lie in bed and listen to relaxation CDs, especially those that contain someone speaking with relaxing music in the background!. Many of these CDs are available on eBay for very low prices!.

A relaxation technique similar to meditation is relax your body one part at a time, from the head down or the toes up, whichever seems to work best for you!. So you could relax your feet, your lower legs, upper legs, moving up from your lower belly up to your chest, etc!., etc!.

A similar technique is to just let your mind move from one part of your body to another!. Just do this spontaneously, seeing where your mind goes next!. Of course, guided relaxation methods can help, imagining yourself in the country, the beach, or whatever is most soothing to you!.

The last method sounds weird, but what do you expect from Yahoo! Answers :-) However, this method really works! You begin with very tiny rocking movements!. Let's say you are lying on your right side, then move the upper or lower part of your right arm or even just a finger or two!. Make the movement slow and so tiny that no one could see the movement even if they were less than a foot away!. As strange as this sounds, it is very relaxing and can move you quickly into the world of dreams!.

If none of this crap works, get a gun and go to a local drug store!. Say to the cashier, "This is a stick up!. Give me all the sleeping pills you have!."

Get away from the computer!. The bright screen tricks your brain into making you less tired!. I suggest reading a book under dim light!. Eventually your eyes can't take the strain and you just fall asleep!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

ppk is right, go lay down and stare at the ceiling or something you'll eventually fall asleepWww@Answer-Health@Com
