What is wrong with me? Why are my eyes and ears playing tricks on me?!

Question: What is wrong with me!? Why are my eyes and ears playing tricks on me!?
I start school in three days (I count today because it's not over yet)!. Something is wrong, though!. I haven't been able to sleep at night for three nights!. And I literally mean the nights have been sleepless!. Here's how long I stayed up each night:

1st night: 6:00am
2nd night: 5:30am
3rd night: 4:30am

I'm glad the time I fall asleep each night is less than the night before, but I shouldn't be staying awake for so long!. I'm starting to get these strange thoughts in my head!. Like I'm seeing things!. Not ghosts or monsters, but my imagination seems to be running wild!. Last night, I was looking at one of my posters of Princess Ariel and it looked like she moved her eyes a little!.

And I hear these sounds!. They're the same sounds I hear almost every night!. A car horn honking or my rabbit scratching his cage!. But they put these fantasies in my head!. And I've also been have a few headaches lately for no reason!. My head hurts now!. But my ears are playing tricks on me just like my eyes!. Last night, when I thought I saw Princess Ariel move her eyes a bit on my poster, I turned my head away!. And then, I heard someone call my name (or I thought I did)!. It wasn't my mom or sister!. They were asleep and I know their voices!. It didn't sound like Ariel!. It sounded like someone I know from a long time ago!. But I can't remember the person's name!.

I don't know what's wrong!. I am still a little nervous about high school, but not very much and I want to go!. This isn't the first time I've had this problem, but these thoughts usually go away the first night!. But it's been three nights!. I can't figure out what's wrong!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The way you mention right at the start of your question when you are due to start High School suggests to me that this is a very important event to you!. That means I suspect your other problems are due to anxiety (worrying about the start of school) keeping you awake and exhaustion then causing your brain to do weird stuff!.

Visual and audible hallucinations are common if you're sleep deprived, so I really don't think that's anything you should get extremely worried about at this point!. If you'd been having hallucinations for weeks or months then, yes, I would suggest seeking medical help soon!.

I think the headaches are also due to lack of rest!. Basically, your brain is not being allowed to rest and recharge at night, so it's not surprising that it's complaining!.

If you continue to get very little sleep, you can expect to start to suffer from delusions (believing things that simply are not true) or even paranoia (believing others are out to get you)!. This is not very pleasant for you or for people around you, but you should bear in mind that these nasty effects are only temporary!. When you start getting enough sleep again, your brain will resume functioning normally!.

I wonder how long you're sleeping once you do fall asleep!? Is your body clock that controls when you feel tired now thoroughly messed up!?

You say you're not that worried about High School, but my personal experience is that we may think that we're not too stressed about something when in fact we are!. Personally, when I was going through university I thought I was coping okay, but it was only afterwards that I realised that I'd developed a twitch in my left eye that started up whenever I got a bit overloaded!.

If it's possible, you might consider seeing a doctor and asking if he can give you a mild sedative!. Or, if this would be difficult, you could do what I do when I have problems getting to sleep: take an old-fashioned antihistamine pill, not one of the modern non-drowsy ones, but one that _does_ have a warning on it about not driving or operating heavy equipment when taking the pills!.

Sleeping pills are definitely a habit to avoid, but it sounds to me like your brain could use a bit of a rest right now and it apparently needs a bit of help to shut down in the evening!.

Good luck in High School!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Don't worry about it!. Starting school back up plays a huge part!. As much as you want to tell yourself that your not really nervous about school, you actually are!. Thats how I was too!. I told myself that school was going to be a piece of cake, but I got really nervous at the last couple days of summer!.
I remember last week, I stayed up later than usual because of nerves, but probably some other reasons as well!. Sometimes you just cant get to sleep!. And we all have those times when we cant get to sleep and we claim to have hear that mysterious noise and that wierd movement in the halls!. I always trick myself into believing that there is somebody in my house or some wierd creature in my closet, and that makes us stay up even later because we are afraid!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
