When do disolvable stiches disolve?!

I have had 3 surgeries in the last year and everytime they have placed stitches my body seems to not dissolve them and they end up coming to the surface months later!. It's rather bizare!. My most recent surgery was 3 weeks ago for an umbilical hernia repair!. The steri strips came off about a week ago and the incision looks wonderful!.!.!.although just today I felt a wiskery thing at the very bottom of where the cut ends!. It looks liek a tiny piece of fishing wire sticking out!. From the past the stitches just weld up like a pimple and a little squeeze would pop them out!. But this one I grabbed onto and gave a soft pull!.!.!.but it looked like there was more and thicker pieces wanting to come with it!. It really kinda freaked me out because its just tiny but there is obviously an opening where this is coming from inside under my skin!. I don't know if I should jsut wait another couple of weeks to see if it will disolve on its own or go back to doc and risk her hurting by doing it herself, or maybe opening me a little again!.
