Question: Health and Safety Toilets within a canteen / meal room !?
Hi,
We have a canteen room that men provide there own food and prepare meals, but within this room, there is the toilet that has a door but actually you have to enter it from the canteen, and it has a poorly fitting door and no extractor
Obvoiusly!.!.!. no matter what!.!.!. it stinks !.!.!. and yes sometimes gets worse
Do workers have to legally eat there meals within the smell of the toilet !?!? Www@Answer-Health@Com

No legally the toilet should be quite separate from the rest /food area!. Take this up with your Health and Safety!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

you need to contact your local factory inspector and inform him of the unacceptable conditions of your rest room and toilet this is so bad i think the inspector will tell him he can not operate until he has sorted this out!.
i find it hard to believe that workers would put up with that coz i know i would not!.
some one said before me you should talk to your own works health and safety well if you have a H&S person at your place not only do they want sacking but they should be prosecuted in court for failure of duty!.

i think the law is that there muse be at least 2 doors between an eating room and a bathroom!.
i have no idea what action you can take but simply asking your bosses will be a start, if that doesn't work threaten to seek legal advice, and do so if they don't fix the problem!.
