Well, it all depends on where you go to get it done!. If you go to a place at the mall, they'll likely just use a piercing gun!. In other words, they'll ram a fairly dull stud through it at a high rate of speed using equiptment that may or may not be properly sanitized!. The risk of infection with a piercing gun (especially in the cartilege) is high!. The trauma from the gun also increases your risk for a keloid (a big nasty lump of scar tissue)

If you go to a reputable piercer, they will use a single use needle, push it through with the sterilized jewelry behind it!. Less trauma and strict sterilization will make for a much better piercing!. A nice sharp needle will hurt alot less too!.

Getting your cartilege pierced by a reputable piercer may cost a little more up front, but it's a waay better investment in the long run!.

Electric drill!.!.!.
kidding

Depends on where you get it and the thickness etc!. Some use the gun, others use a needle!. If you are going somewhere reputable then they will know what is best!.

Only hurts for a few seconds really, so just take a deep breath!Www@Answer-Health@Com
