What can you do to recover/minimize side effects from Prednisone?!

Question: What can you do to recover/minimize side effects from Prednisone!?
I've been taking alot of it lately, not much dosage wise but frequently 20mgs a day for asthma, b/c I got really bad flareups to where I literally couldn't drive anywhere!. It was horrible!. The prednisone helped but, made me feel VERY spent/tired, like I had no more energy or adrenaline or whatever, like I was done!.

I also felt sick, headachy,, couldnt' think straight!.!.!.just bad!.

I ate good food, drank vitamins, rested and that helped some but!.!.!.!.

is there anything else I could do to help easen this!?

Also how long after I stop taking it, will I feel back to normal again!?

Why is this drug so dangerous!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hi Luke,

I'm sorry that you have been having asthma troubles!. My little one has it and has to take Prednisone when he develops bad colds!. While it does have side effects, doctors only prescribe it when they think that the benefits outweight the risks!. Keep in mind that while side effects are common - those rare risks that we worry about are very uncommon!.

The best advice I can give is to try not to worry so much and give your doc a call!. Let him know that it's making you feel pretty crumby!. Often times the doctors reassurance is comforting enough to get through the rest of the doses!. If the doc still wants you on the meds, try taking it at night and perhaps sleeping off it's effects!.

Feel better soon and know you aren't alone!. There are so many others with asthma that go through the same things!. Cheer up! Www@Answer-Health@Com

It really is dangerous stuff!. It mimics your adrenals!.
I don't recommend it!.
