How skinny is too skinny?!

Question: How skinny is too skinny!?
I'm 16, 6'3 and 150 lbs!.

my story-
I used to weigh about 220 and I felt like crap!. My self esteem was awful, I wore shirts everywhere, even while swimming to cover my "moobs" and kids always made fun of me!. I ate excessively to cover my emotions and hated physical activity!. Last year, I finally cracked and decided to lose some weight!. I joined the school rugby team and slowly made adjustments to my diet and personal workout schedule!.
Slowly, I became anorexic!.

At one point I was exercising 2 hours a day and eating anywhere from 600 to 1500 calories!. I couldn't communicate with people, let alone play rugby!. The thought of the "fat me" kept me at it and in 8 months I lost 70 pounds!. Now I am recovering from anorexia, I have energy to go out and be active but I am still underweight,

At the moment, I find that I crave physical activity!. I love to go to the gym and run kilometers before I lift weights!. I eliminated all the processed junk food from my diet and I have no acne!. For the first time in my life, I have a six pack and muscles bulging out of my body, however skinny It may be!. My body looks built, and finally girls everywhere are talking to me whereas before they ran!. I am still losing weight, every two weeks I force myself to gorge down food to maintain weight!. My doctor says that I should weight AT LEAST 170!.

How am I supposed to gain weight when for the first time in my life I'm getting the attention that I've always dreamed of!? I know I Should gain weight, and yet, I don't want to!.

Any advice!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Your doctor wants you to gain controlled weight, not excessive fat!. You should consult a weight counselor/trainer to help you achieve this!. You are at an unhealthy weight for your height and to be honest, I don't understand how you are not skin and bones at that weight!. Muscle weights way more than fat so with rippling muscles you should be at 175 or so!. You won't be fat at 170 and you will still get attention!. Be healthy, not shallow!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Go to a strength coach and let him decide your weight while he guides you to a stronger you!.
He knows what he is doing and you don't!.
He is going to make you look like him and if you shop around you will get one that is getting the attention you have always dreamed of!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

First of all, congratulations!.

Secondly if its the newly found attention that's drawing you to not want to gain some weight, think of the even more attention you'll be getting if you're at optimum weight!. Think of 170 as the epitome of health!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Less than 160lbs and you could subject yourself to increased health risks!. I would suggest that you add a protein shake into your diet at least once a day to offset the weight loss!. When you get to the weight you want cut it back to a few times a week!.

Good Luck!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

packing on the excess food to gain causes you to want to exercise more!. eat balanced foods, and refrain from going to the gym more than 3 times a week!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If you want to be around to enjoy the attention you're now getting, I'd recommend following your doctors advice! He's not going to recommend anything that's going to make you "fat", just healthy!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Being too skinny is just as unattractive, if not more unattractive, as being overweight!. You should always aim for a healthy weight, nothing more, nothing less, and then you will look your best!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

If you ever go to the doctor, ask them to show you the chart for average height and weight for girls your age!. It's a chart with a shaded region showing the average!. I'm 18, 5'4'' and 100lbs exactly!. When I was a kid, my doctors told my mother to make me peanut butter milkshakes and pack me full of calories so I would grow!. I'm still on the lower side of the shaded region, but I'm definitely proportioned!. Hate to say it, but the average girl is a little heavier than she should be!. If you feel comfortable about yourself stay the way you are, but make sure you consult someone to see if your weight is way too low and unhealthy!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

congrats on losing all that weight and recovering from annorexia!
however, i still think you need to gain weight, at least 170 like your doctor said!.
i used to weigh about 160 lbs when i was 5'6, so i was just a bit chubby, but then i started skipping meals and over exercising too and im now 6" and 150 lbs, so the same weight as you but shorter!. everyone tells me i need to gain weight too!.
you should be healthy about it, and through eating carbs before working out for energy, and lots of protein after, you can gain the extra weight in muscle and look even better!
good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

You do need to have a little weight, and you can do that by doing muscle gain exercises and eating good amounts of protein!. Working out is your best bet on gaining a little weight!. You won't even have to worry about getting fat in your body because you will be exercising!. You should workout 3-4 days a week, and also do good aerobic exercises like running, biking, swimming, etc!. Your workout may be too heavy if your are losing too much weight, tone it down a little!. You should start looking at food as something you need to have instead of a choice!. Eat when your hungry and make healthy choices and don't eat when you are full!.

You will probably gain some of the weight your doctor wants, but if you stay active, you may no gain a lot of inches so you will still look great!

Just don't take eating so seriously!. And always give yourself one cheat day a week!. where you can eat fast food, or drink soda, and eat candy!.

Make small choices with your diet to stay healthy, like don't drink soda anymore!. Then chose to not eat after 8 pm (unless its fruit or veggies) Learn to carry healthy snacks with you so you are never starving!. The more you eat, the faster your metabolism gets!.

Eat small meals or snacks every 2 hours!. You will be surprised at how great you feel!

I hope this helpsWww@Answer-Health@Com

There is something called the international weight index that determines how much you should weigh to be healthy relative to your height and is slightly different based on gender!. However this does not take a persons particular frame into account, just because you are tall you may still have a slight frame so should weigh less than the weight index says, and sometimes the reverse is true if someone has a heavier frame!. Keep this in mind when you are deciding whether or not you should gain or lose weight!. I also read a recent article that says that in our culture we are actually tending to believe that we should be weighing more than we do as people who are "skinny" or more specifically live rather low calorie lives live longer and have fewer health problems, this may "look" unhealthy and people are quick to believe the perception is the reality even in proffessional fields, the short answer is, if you feel healthy, you're out there feeling good and being active, then you're in good shape, and should just continue with what you are doing and snack more often!.

You should realize that your appearence is only a small part of what makes you a good suitor for a woman, and a woman that judges you on looks alone is not a desirable woman!. Don't get me wrong looks count and they should count, attention to ones appearence and health means that you are intelligent and hardworking enough to look good and stay healthy, you will also live longer and be a better father if you are healthy and feel good!.

You shouldn't be gorging in order to gain weight though, you should be eating just more fattening foods more often, keep nuts with you when you wander around for instance and just snack on them all day, gorging is not good for your body!.

I myself am in the process of gaining weight as well and have put on a good twenty pounds and I feel a lot better, I think I'm going to put on another sixty then slim down thirty after I put on some muscle to reduce the fat to muscle ratio!.

That is something you could do, you could get up to two-hundred while working out, and then cut back down to one seventy to reduce the fat, body builders, wrestlers, and boxers do this on a regular basis in order to effectively build muscle but stay within certain weight categories, or just look more muscular!.

It works very well for a lot of people to use this method!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I think you need to understand that gaining weight doesn't mean you need to get fat again!. You're too active for how much food you're eating!. You can stay as active as you are, but you should eat more!. A friend of mine would finish a big Costco bag of chicken in a week, on top of everything else he was eating, because of how active he was!. But he stayed trim and cut and fit, and all those things that you are now!. You can gain more weight in muscle, but that does mean that you need to increase how much you eat!. Also, you do need at least a little fat in your body!.

See if you can get together with a nutritionist and work out better eating habits!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
