Clove oil burns sensitive tissue?!

Question: Clove oil burns sensitive tissue!?
i bought a lip balm at a farmers market that i thought would be awesome, has olive oil, beeswax, almond oil, avocado oil!. it also contained essential orange and clove oil!. my lips puffed up and burned badly!. was this an allergic reaction or does clove oil normally burn!? Corners of my mouth also are bad, but they were already prone to dryness and cracking!. should i have known better or is this burning abnormal!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Straight clove oil burns sensitive skin!.!.!. my father swears by it for many different remedies, but I cannot use it unless I dilute it, because it burns me!.

Unless there is a huge amount of clove in the lip balm, I would bet that you had an allergic reaction!. Most of the time when people put clove in lotions, balms, massage oil, they dilute it way down!.!.!. so that it is basically just the scent!.
