Recently I went to the ER with chest pain, fever, heart rate of 128bpm!. All this occurred after a warm sensation all over my body numbrness in the legs and trouble keeping my breath!. After some test the ekg came back positive for a clot!. A cat scan was next which confirmed there was not a blood clot!. Fever dropped then i was released!. Now I am getting the warm sensation often, hardly ever feel hungry and have had diarrhea for the past 3 weeks!. And lost 8 pounds!. I have just turned 19 and have lost my health insurance!. The chest pains are far and few between!. Once in awhile I will experience a sharp pain in the lower abdomen!. In the mean time i'm trying to get on my mothers insurance to see a doctor!. my normal bpm is 58-64 and i weighed 135!. Male!. I am concerned how much the heart rate increased!. Does it usually go that high with fevers!? Any ideas would be very helpful!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I'm a physician so perhaps I can be helpful!.

There are a great number of things that can be causing your symptoms!. They range from possible infections such as mononucleosis or colitis, or perhaps a gallbladder problem, or even panic attacks (though, weight loss is *not* a usually a symptom of panic attacks!.)

I would strongly advise further medical workup, as no one can provide a diagnosis here online without further examination and testing!. I would also advise getting this as soon as possible!.

If it is going to be a while until you get on your Mom's insurance coverage, you might want to consider contacting your closest teaching hospital and scheduling an appointment in their internal medicine or family medicine clinic!. They may even see you without charge if you explain your situation!. Some physician offices will work out a payment plan for you as well!. Keep in mind that a visit to a local doctor should cost you far less than an ER visit!. Finally, if you are paying out-of-pocket at your doctor's office, let your physician know that you are without insurance and they may bill you at a lower level!. I do this for my uninsured patients!.

Please seek follow-up medical care as soon as possible!. The weight loss of 5% of your body weight certainly points to something more than panic attacks!.
