I think yes!. I mean, where else can it go, really!? We swallow saliva when we are awake, but we don't even notice it, because like breathing, it is something the body just does automatically!.

You generally don't swallow too often if you sleep with your mouth open, as there is not really any saliva to swallow!. This is also why some people wake up with a really dry mouth and throat!. There are a lot of droolers too!.
