Can you get used to having less and less sleep?!

Question: Can you get used to having less and less sleep!?
I always feel like there aren't enough hours in the day, so I was wondering if I could get used to getting less and less sleep!?

The reason I think this may be possible is that my boss for a period of about 4 years only slept 1 night a week and still functioned fine at work and at home!.

would this be genetic or a case of conditioning!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

I'm leary of people who go on small amounts of sleep like that!. They are often moody and irritable!.!.!.!.

I have heard before that when you lose sleep during the week that your body will need to automatically make it up at some point!. So you might find that you're sleeping 24 hrs!. solid at the end of the month, where you've been running yourself ragged!. I've found that to be true in my life!.
The only exception to that seems to be through meditation!. If you meditate, you tend to sleep less!. I think that you're somehow able to accomplish, through meditation, what you would normally derive from sleeping!. I've also found this in my life!.

But what I might suggest to you is that maybe you need to gain an appreciation for sleeping!. You're looking at sleep in almost an anxiety-driven way!. You want to squeeze more hours into your day and it seems like you're feeling anxious about the time that your "wasting" sleeping!. When in actuality, sleep is just as important as your daytime activity!. Dreaming often, compensates for things that you're lacking in your daily life!. It gives you insight into things!. We often dream in symbolism and even though, we don't always understand in our waking hours, what went on in our dreams, our body and our spirit have interpreted it in an important way!. My personal feeling is that it's the time we commune with God!. So for that reason alone, it's important to me!.

When you go to sleep, you should try placing a pen and paper beside your bed!. Make a mental note to yourself to remember your dreams!. When you wake up the next morning, try to write down very quickly, what you remember about your dreams!. It may surprise you how important they really are to your daily life!. Dreams can be so fascinating, I think that you're really short-changing yourself!.

I think that eventually you would find that this notion that you have that they're aren't enough hours in the day is all part of a rush-rush mentality and perhaps you're trying to replace quantity for quality!. It's great to get the most out of your day but you don't want to be so achievment driven that you're not embracing other aspects of your life!. It may be an indication of a bigger problem in your life - not being able to slow down!.

You might want to check out some books on sleep and dreaming!. There are lots of studies on sleep and brainwaves that are really fascinating!. It might give you a whole new perspective!.

YUP!.!.it falls both ways!. I have insomnia and lived with it for many years!. Recently, I found out my older brother (in another state) has been living with insomnia also for many years!. My younger sister also is well on her way!

Sometimes, in some cases you can manage to get it under control, but its alot of work and if its bad like mine is; nothing works!. Some days I'm up for 3 days straight around the clock!. These past 2 weeks, I've been going to bed, and staring at the ceiling!.!. watching the sun come up!.

If you try to condition yourself, it is possible, but you will be headed for a CRASH!.!. meaning you'll get really tired at least one day a week and drop like a fly!.!. not to mention you attention span and your working abilities may suffer!.
