There is a rare condition called narcolepsy, where you fall asleep instantly at any time of day or night, but it doesn't sound like you have that!.

You might have something called sleep apnoea, where your breathing pattern whilst sleeping is messed up, meaning that your sleep is much less refreshing - you would need to see a doctor (and possibly be referred to a sleep specialist) to do anything about this, and even then there's no real "cure" as such, just things that can help!. If you share a bed with anyone, they can probably tell you if this is a possibility - the most usual pattern is one of increasingly shallow breaths, followed by a short period in which you don't breathe at all, then start breathing again suddenly (often with a snort or jerking of the body)!.

Most likely you have just fallen into this pattern, and it is more of a psychological need than a physical one!. I had a similar problem some years ago, and resolved it by forcing myself to get up 15 minutes earlier each week, whilst keeping the same time for going to bed!. Combining this with regular exercise (to ensure a better night's sleep in the first place) worked for me - I hope it works for you too!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
