Doctor told me to make a pain diary, what do i put in it?!

Question: Doctor told me to make a pain diary, what do i put in it!?
Ok i have some sort of mysterious joint pain that the doctors cant figure out what it is!. It started in my wrists, then my knees, then my ankles, then my elbows and now my hips are getting it, ive also had problems with my shoulders a few times!. They thought it was rheumatoid arthritis but the test said it wasn't!. I think it sound like fibromyalgia as i also have some of there other symptoms!.

So any way the last time i saw the doctor about it (a while ago) they said it would be help full if i did a diary of when it hurt and stuff but im not sure exactly what should be on it!. all i can think of is, where it hurts, when and the weather (as they wanted to know if the weather affected it)!.

So can any one tell me what else should be in it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
there is some excellent advice here!. the only thing i can add is it is probably to put more than less into the diary!. include any housework you were doing at the time etc - even making a cup of coffee!. they can never have too much information to try and work out the why and how to manage your problem!.

keep your chin up!. pain is an insidious thing and can lead to other problems such as depression because it can really wear you down!.

hang in there and good luck;Www@Answer-Health@Com

Just keep a journal of when you feel pain, what it feels like, where the pain was exactly!.!.and the action you took, this is just so they can get a better idea or when the pain happens the most and whether there is any significance/pattern!. So say you had pain or discomfort in your elbow when you woke up this AM, write that down, date and time included!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The toe touching is a neurological test!. (I hate needles too!.!.!.)!. When you make an entry in your diary, you might include precise location and level of pain, weather, your meals, and activity at the time!.
You might also read up on a condition known as fybromialgia!. Good luck!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

One idea, try rating your pain on a scale (e!.g!. 1 through 10 with 10 being highest!.!.!.or using words such as minor, moderate, severe)!. If you do this daily, you may notice patterns or at least have a record to show your doctor if you request pain medication!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I think they should be doing tests on you instead of this rubbish diary!Www@Answer-Health@Com
