Answers:
Liver transplants are possible, but there are pretty strict rules on who gets a new liver!. This is because there aren't enough livers to go around!.

They will NOT give a liver to a person who has recently been drinking!. A person has to be completely sober for several months or years before they will be considered for a transplant!.

Once you get on the transplant list, the odds of getting a liver are bad!. Most people die on the waiting list!.

Still, there are many things the hospital can do to keep him alive longer, although he will probably suffer quite a bit!. Dialysis will help to clear toxins from the blood!. A medication called lactulose will decrease his dangerously high ammonia level, although unfortunately this causes a lot of watery diarrhea!.

When the liver fails, a lot of stress is put on the heart!. There are surgical procedures that can bypass the blood flow through the liver, and the excess fluid buildup in the abdomen can be drained surgically!. These procedures are risky for a person in such bad health, so the doctors may decide it's too dangerous to even try them!.

Perhaps with all these treatments and more, he will survive long enough to get on that waiting list!. Overall, though, the odds aren't good!. I'm sorry for him and for you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

sorry to hear that =(
usually doctors try and do the best they can
you can always ask them about transplant for him!.!. looks like he needs the transplant now!. Transplant is hard to get very quickly it usually take time , not alot of time, but not right away, seems likes he would need the transplant RIGHT NOW since its getting worse & not better!.!.
=( sorry 2 hear thatWww@Answer-Health@Com

you can have a transplant - or go on dialysis - i'm so sorry to hear that - a failing liver is not good :-(
