Answers:
Stabbing abdominal pains on the upper left hand side can be due to ulcers,Crohn's disease, ovarian cyst; dysmenorrhea; choledocahl cyst; gastritis; dyspepsia or indigestion; spleen neosplasm; diverticulitis; GERD or IBS!.; etc!. !.

I found a spleen forum where people talked about this pain!. One person was diagnosed with "costochondritis"!. It an inflammation where the sternum and rib cage meet!. It is a form of arthritis!. THe only thing that helps is pain medication!. If none available, the next best thing is Aleve!. Hope this helps

Still another had an MRI done which exhibited a herniated disk in his thoracic zone!. Between t8-T9!.

Another thing to consider would be Splenic Flexure Syndrome!. The two characteristic features of hypersplenism are splenomegaly and a deficiency of one or more blood components!. It seems that an enlarged spleen is sometimes overactive and will destroy more blood cells than necessary!. Symptoms depend on which blood component is lacking!. For example, if red blood cells are deficient, anaemia will be the result (with symptoms including fatigue and pallor)!. Most cases of hypersplenism are caused by disorders somewhere else in the body, such as cirrhosis of the liver!.
Have they checked your spleen!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

I had a similar bout of stomach pain in conjunction with a lower respiratory virus!. My doctor said that it was probably stress related unless I started vomiting, in which case it was a diseased pancreas!. My mother mentioned a condition called 'Pyloric Spasms' which can cause sudden, debilitating stomach pains!. My pain was alleviated with a prescription antacid!.

I'm glad to know you went to the doctor before posting this question online!. Smart move!.

Hope you feel better soon!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If the pain moves around, it's probably just gas!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Maybe gas!? Try taking a gas X and if it goes away w/in 20-30 mins!. it's gas :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

Have you had your pancreas checked!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Make absolutely sure you do not have an ectopic pregnancy!

There are lots of what ifs!. Had you taken antibiotics right before onset!?

Have you been tested for irritable bowel syndrom!?

Have you become lactose intolerant!?

Is the pain more pronounced after certain activities, foods, sex, position change!.

Is the pain constant, while maintaining the same level of pain!?

Can you relieve the pain with antacids, position change, pressure, ice, bath!?

What have they tested you for!? What did they check for in your blood tests!? Did they get a white cell count!?

Have you done any traveling prior to onset!?

Any changes in your routines!? Are you stressed!? New sex partner in your life within 6-8 months!? New medications!? Any strenuous activities, like a marathon!?

Are you using the restroom regularly!? Any changes in your stools!?

ADDITION:
Well you're young! Could it at all be a pulled muscle!? I highly doubt it, though still fathomable!. Sounds like you need a second opinion and another ultrasound, preferably an MRI!.

My best friend had ongoing pain, the MRI revealed scar tissue on her liver!.!.!.for no apparent reason!. She was only 20, with no indication of illness other than pain!.

I hope the best to you in recovery & pain management!. No one should endure a lower quality of life in todays world of advanced medicine!. I'm sure some dr can figure it out, just dont let them make you feel like its all in your head!. Some drs feel so high & mighty, that if they cant figure out what is wrong!.!.!.then there is nothing wrong!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
