Food Detective on Food Network just had a special on this and they said the easiest, cheapest, and most effective remedy was baking soda!. 1 teaspoon in 8 ounces of water!. Heart burn is caused when the stomach over produces stomach acid and it gets into your lower esophagus!. The baking soda is a base whilst your stomach acid is well!.!.!. acid!.!.!. So from a chemical stand point you want to raise the PH level of your stomach acid to relieve pain!.!.!. Stomach acid is a 2 on the PH scale and when you consume the baking soda drink, it moves to 3 very quickly!. That little change is all you need for relief!.!.!. Prilosec and other pills have to dissolve to cause relief whereas the baking soda reacts instantly for instant relief!.!.!. I wish you the best!

Yes they are right, "Proton Pump Inhibitors" are powerful medicines (those that ends in -prazole like omeprazole, lanzoprazole!.!.) And yes, these meds are OTC!.

And oh, may I add!. You must avoid spicy foods, too esp black pepper with meat!. Avoid pain relievers too!.

Gaviscon liquid is really good!. They have normal or aniseed flavour too!. Although Asda's own make of heartburn remedy is exactly the same, but cheaper!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
