In truth!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!. The CDC will be lowering the "normal" of 10 down to 5 micrograms per deciliter (ug/dl)

You don't say how old your child is but even for an adult painter 13 would be a "level of concern"

If you child is a crawler (like 1 to 3) her exposure is most likely from lead in floor dust!. This can come from many sources but I'm guessing it may be the windows!.

It sounds like you have an old home!. That means you have "double hung" windows!. (they slide up and down) It also sounds like you have lead on your exterior trim work!. That means you have lead in the window guides!. In this case!. !.!. Every time window is lifted, lead dust is generated and with a slight breeze is blown into the house!. Lead dust from opening windows can / will be invisible

(BTW!. My house was built in 1943 and I have this same problem)

If your not going to have these Professionally replaced using Lead Safe Work Practices then you have a little life style change to undergo!.

1) Make the exterior window sills smooth and cleanable!. A fresh coat of paint or , even better, install some sheets of hard vinyl!.

2) Each time and EVERY time you open a window, use a clean wet towel/rag to whip the interior window sill then the exterior sill!. Then dispose of the towel!.

This will insure the lead from the window guides will not end up on your floors!.

Any other paint should be made "intact" so it won't add to lead in floor dust!.

You could also test any toys she chews on!. The quickest / easiest way to test toys is to use a product called "Lead Check"!. They are small white tubes that deliver a chemical (sodium rodizinate) to the surface!.

If there is leach-able lead it will turn color (pink or red)!. Which means it should never be used to serve food or drink!.

HINT: They cost about $3!.00 each BUT !!! (Lead Check hates me to teach this) !.!.!. There are 5 to 7 drops in each tube!. If you use a clean dry cotton swab on each item, you can get 5 to 7 tests!.

For more info please read http://home!.mindspring!.com/~wrltc/lswp!.p!.!.!. Its a book I wrote for parents doing re-modeling or having it done!. And lead issues in general!. It was paid for by a fed/state grant!. Which means its your book as much as mine!. Education about this subject is my job!. Read the pages on Protecting Your Children!.

BTW!.!.!.!.!. YOUR DR!. IS A MORON AND YOU CAN TELL HIM I SAID SO!.!.!. You can't buy screw on water filters that will work on small amounts of lead!. (15 PPB)

Her blood level is much too high!. Please find a professional in your area!. Talk to the local health dept!. They have lead poison sections!. Or write me!.

EDIT: I have some other thoughts but am out of room!. PLease write me and we can talk about them!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
