Health wise, is there anything damaging about smoking marijuana? Why is marijuan!

Question: Health wise, is there anything damaging about smoking marijuana!? Why is marijuana so bad to smoke!?
I'm not saying its right!.!.!.!.but my own doctor couldn't give me a satisfactory answer as to whats so bad about marijuana!. Besides losing brain cells (if you don't use them), delinquent behavior (if you are irresponsible) and weight gain (if you get the munchies and raid the frig)!.!.!.what are the serious health concerns!?!?

I'm not asking for people's opinions about smoking marijuana (although I'm sure someone else would be very interested in it - I'm unfortunately NOT)!. I'm asking about the health concerns!. Thank you

Answers:
Short-Term Effects
The short-term effects of marijuana include:
Distorted perception (sights, sounds, time, touch)
Problems with memory and learning
Loss of coordination
Trouble with thinking and problem-solving
Increased heart rate, reduced blood pressure
Sometimes marijuana use can also produce anxiety, fear, distrust, or panic!.
Effects on the Brain
The active ingredient in marijuana, delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol or THC, acts on cannabinoid receptors on nerve cells and influences the activity of those cells!. Some brain areas have many cannabinoid receptors, but other areas of the brain have few or none at all!. Many cannabinoid receptors are found in the parts of the brain that influence pleasure, memory, thought, concentration, sensory and time perception, and coordinated movement!.
When high doses of marijuana are used, usually when eaten in food rather than smoked, users can experience the following symptoms:

Hallucinations
Delusions
Impaired memory
Disorientation
Effects on the Heart
Within a few minutes after smoking marijuana, the heart begins beating more rapidly and the blood pressure drops!. Marijuana can cause the heart beat to increase by 20 to 50 beats per minute, and can increase even more if other drugs are used at the same time!.
Because of the lower blood pressure and higher heart rate, researchers found that users' risk for a heart attack is four times higher within the first hour after smoking marijuana!.

Effects on the Lungs
Smoking marijuana, even infrequently, can cause burning and stinging of the mouth and throat, and cause heavy coughing!. Scientists have found that regular marijuana smokers can experience the same respiratory problems as tobacco smokers do, including:

Daily cough and phlegm production
More frequent acute chest illnesses
Increased risk of lung infections
Obstructed airways
Marijuana contains more carcinogenic hydrocarbons than tobacco smoke and because marijuana smokers usually inhale deeper and hold the smoke in their lungs longer than tobacco smokers, their lungs are exposed to those carcinogenic properties longer!.
One study found that marijuana smokers were three times more likely to develop cancer of the head or neck than non-smokers!. Many researchers believe than smoking marijuana is overall more harmful to the lungs than smoking tobacco!.

Other Health Effects
Research indicates that THC impairs the body's immune system from fighting disease, which can cause a wide variety of health problems!. One study found that marijuana actually inhibited the disease-preventing actions of key immune cells!. Another study found that THC increased the risk of developing bacterial infections and tumors!.

Effects of Exposure During Pregnancy
Several studies have found that children born to mothers who used marijuana during pregnancy exhibit some problems with neurological development!. According to those studies, prenatal marijuana exposure can cause:

Altered responses to visual stimuli
Increased tremulousness
Problems with sustained attention and memory
Poor problem-solving skillsWww@Answer-Health@Com

That brain cell thing is false!. Behavior is dependent on the person, not the grass!. Munchies, sure, but that is the reason that chemo patients use it to stimulate the appetite and decrease nausea!. I can find no other health concerns!. It used to be thought that using pot would lead to harder drugs, but that was only because in order to buy pot, one needed to deal with unsavory people that also deal in narcotics (identity by association!.) I agree that it is hard to understand why that harmless, benign stuff is illegal and alcohol and tobacco which are so dangerous are not!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The only long term "health concern" that I know of is potential lung damage as there is no filter to catch the tar & crap like there is for cigarettes!. As for losing brain cells & all that jazz there are things out there that are much worse for you & I really don't think it's much of a concern, to be honest!. Being a 'gateway' drug is a concern because it can lead you to using drugs that are much more harmful for your health than pot is!. BTW - marijuana isn't physically addicting like cigarettes/nicotine is, yet cigarettes are legal & pot isn't!.!.!. go figure!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes there is!. Marijuana has been shown to increase estrogen levels over years of using it!.!.!. which is bad for several reasons especially for guys!. Guys who smoke marijuana frequently are stupid, very stupid!.
Plus it's never good to breathe smoke into your lungs!.

There aren't serious health concerns!. The serious concern is that it makes you you high, stupid, and lazy!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

i read that smoking one blunt is the equivalent of smoking 5 cigarettes!. the chemicals are really bad!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

the thing is its not bad thwe only reason it is illegal is because the government can't puit a tax on itWww@Answer-Health@Com
