Question: Have had chronic migraines for about ten years and am having an MRI and CT scan!.!.!.!?
I've been on more meds than I care to list and my doctor finally decided I needed a few more tests done!. I've had a CT scan done before becase of a car accident, but never an MRI!. How's an MRI done!? What are they going to be looking for!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
An MRI scanner uses a huge magnet and radio waves to create images of the tissues in your body!. Things like bones are not imaged!. With the MRI images the Doctor can see if there is any kind of injury or scar tissue in your head that might be causing the headaches!.

MRi scans are painless!. You won't feel anything!. The scanners do make a lot of noise that sounds like banging and popping!. They will give you earplugs or headphones to reduce the noise!. Don't worry about the sounds!. There is absolutely nothing moving inside the machine!. Some people get a little nervous about the size of the tunnel that goes through the magnet!. Don't worry about that either!. Just relax and it'll be over in a few minutes!.

Many headaches are caused by spinal mis-alignments!. You might want to go see a Chiropractor for an adjustment!. You might really benefit and be off the meds almost immediately!.

I also heard that a supplement called Feverfew is great at treating and preventing migraine headaches!. You can get it at GNC and it's real cheap!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

In an MRI a large magnet is rotated around a donut shaped tube to generate a magnetic field!. Different tissues in your body will send a different signal to the scanner!. This will allow a doctor/radiologist to see if there is any abnormal tissue or growth!. An fMRI will allow them to image brain activity!.

Basically, they'll compare you to what they know as normal to see if they can find a reason for your migraines!. Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I can soooooooo relate!. This may sound simple!. But after years of doctors, tests, meds, ER visits - I went to a wellness chiropractor!. I am now totally off ALL migraine meds (was taking 5 at once just for migraines - I'm off other meds too)!. I went from having 1 migraine a week (sometimes lasting for 2 or 3 days) to zero!. I can't even remember when my last migraine was!.
Good luck!!Www@Answer-Health@Com
