Err ... what should I say?!

Question: Err !.!.!. what should I say!?
I know this is silly to say, but I'm serious!. :|
I'll probably get some crap answers, but whatever!. One good answer is enough!.
I revealed to one of my tutors that I've been making myself sick lately!. She knows I've been having problems with self-esteem, loneliness and depression, and, of course, wants me to get help!.
So tomorrow I'll be phoning up the doctors to make an appointment, but they usually ask what you're going in for!.
Now, I know this is stupid, but I don't want to sound like an idiot!. Like, "Oh, I'm just mental!." :| Lol!. What should I say!? "I'm feeling a bit depressed!?"!?
I feel silly, but I really need an answer!. Thanks!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
You don't need to tell the doctor's receptionist anything!. Just ask for an appointment with the doctor!. If they push you to answer you could say "I'd rather not discuss it over the phone" or you could say "I have a mental health issue that I would like to discuss with the doctor " if you feel comfortable!.

When you're talking to the doctor you can be more candid - tell her/him how you're feeling honestly!. Do be aware that different doctors may treat this in different ways, they may suggest exercise, or prescribe medication, they may recommend talking therapy or CBT, please remember that the choice ultimately is yours!.

1 in 4 people have a mental health problem so there is nothing to be ashamed off, and like your physical health you can not control it and it is not your fault!.

Exercise is probably the very best cure for your low self esteem!. All the very best - you sound fab to me and i hope you start to feel proud of yourself very soon!. Good luck!.

if you mean psychiatrist/counselor when you say 'doctor' just ask 'could I make an appointment with the psychiatrist/counselor!?' if it's just a 'doctor' just say you need to discuss some issues with him/her!?

this is if you don't want to tell the person on the other end of the line that you are 'mental' ;)

hope this helps =]Www@Answer-Health@Com
