Mucus in your lungs and little partices!. When you are sick they build up more and more!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I'm sure you've noticed that your body produces more mucus when you're sick in an effort to sweep away the cold virus!. This is what makes your nose run!. But mucus also builds up in your lungs, where it is called phlegm!. It can't stay there, so it needs to get coughed up!. This is why after you cough when you're sick there's something that ends up in your throat!. The best thing to do is spit it out (it will be green or yellow, and it is phlegm), but you probably haven't noticed because you just swallow it!.

Gross, I know, but that's why!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Your body thinks there's something it needs to get out, either in the throat or lungs!. It's almost involuntary, like blinking!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
