Quite possibly because its trying to make its way out of your body and it has to come out eventually - either that or block your ureter completely - then emergency surgery may be an option

In our experience, the stone will need to come out in one of two ways!.!.!.by excreting it in the urine or by surgery!. They may use lithotripsy to break up the stone before excreting it to make passing it less painful!.
