6 year old with stinky underarms?!

Question: 6 year old with stinky underarms!?
I have a son who's 6 years old!. Recently I've noticed that his underarms are stinky and seems like he needs deodorant!. He takes a shower every other day, the reason why not everyday is because he has eczema (extremely dry skin) he will get too dried out!.

I went to pediatrics recently and the doctor said it was normal!. I disagree, a 6 year old who has BO!?!? doesn't sound right to me!.!.!.

So I would just like some opinions and/or suggestions!.

Thank You

This is very normal!. Many boys around that age are perspiring and letting off some kind of odor!. It wouldn't matter if he showered every single day!. He's expelling bacteria!. It's healthy!.

If it bothers you, or you think the smell bothers other people, throw some baby powder under his arm pits every morning and after he showers!. Do not, I repeat, do not start letting him put on deodorant!. This is a natural stage and him applying deodorant will only make things worse!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

Well, seems like maybe do one of two things!.!.!.

Try a deodorant on the child!.!.!.Mitchum makes a good one, claims you can skip a day!. If you use it immediately after shower and day mornings and bedtime until the next shower!.!.!.then he may get through!.

You can also try daily showers with a non-soap cleanser like Cetaphil on his whole body and use deodorant soap only on the pits!.!.!.moisturize too, perhaps with a prescription product for excema!?

You might also take note of eating habits, some foods leech their smell through the skin!.!.!.garlic is one!.

You might also take a look at the bedding situation, if he is too hot at night he will have sweated and be smelly in the morning!.

Also keep the child hydrated!. This way sweat may occur (and does have to occur, it is a necessity to sweat when you need to) but it won't be so strong and concentrated with toxins, which added to the bacteria on the skin!.!.!.make BO stronger!.

My eight year old is the same it seems to me that some signs of puberty is coming earlier he's been like this for nearly a year so I just make him wash in a morning and on a night and shower him regularly soap usually does the trick with my son but think its just nromal theses days!. if your sons skin is sensitive just make him wash under his arms and bath as normal I wouldn't worry to much : )Www@Answer-Health@Com

It is normal now (I blame all the hormones they put into things now)!.
My little brother is almost 15 but he had to start wearing deodorant around age 8!. He uses Degree clinical strength now!.
Also, he should bathe everyday!. Try cetaphil lotion or, if it's itchy too, try sarna!. I hope that helps you out!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

i didn't need deodorant until last summer!.!.!. i am 11!.!.!. but if the doctor says it's normal he has definitely seen it before!. there's nothing wrong with giving him deodorant, it will make him feel better actually, so don't worry about it!.

extra tip- solids work better and longer than gelly deodorantsWww@Answer-Health@Com

Some peoples hormones are just stronger and kick in a lot sooner than others!. There's nothing wrong with him, just get him some deodorant!. My lil sister had the same problem we noticed she started to smell under her arms when she was 6!. Now its routine shes knows to put on the deodorant after she's bathes!. My parents are doctors so they knew!. Its really no bigWww@Answer-Health@Com

On the alternate day of showering, sponge bath his underarms with soap for sensitive skin such as "Dove Sensitive!." Instead of deodorant, use baby powder which is milder, safe for babies compared to harsh and chemical deodorant!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I have a six year old boy too!. And I teach and after school program of 6-7 year olds!. They ALL stink after play!. Bathe daily and use a gentle cleanser like Cetaphil for the skin condition!. Use a very healing lotion every day!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

this is normal!. my little brother is 6 years old and he smells really bad after he plays so my mom gave him deoderant and he knows what it is for and how it helps him!. get deoderant and don't question the doc:) lol!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Everyone is different, but 6 y/o is really young!. Maybe he does need a shower everyday!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Well what do you expect when he isn't taking a bath every day!? Something has to give, he wears deodorant or takes a daily bath!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Is he obese!? Other than that I would get him deodorant and wait until he is older, then if it is still happening, get him more active!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It's normal!.!.!. even your doctor said so!.!.!. questioning the doctor now!?

Get him some deodorant and call it a day!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

I have heard this can be resolved through breastfeeding!. I think you should breastfeed him!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

try a safe deodorant that wont damage his skin, maybe something organic!? they have that at whole foods!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
