Why can't you remember what goes on at night?!

I go to sleep at 12 everyday and wake up at 6!. During the night though, sometimes my pets will start to bark in their cage and my mom will come in and wake me up to make them be quiet!. The only problem is that I don't remember anything that happens!. I don't even remember getting up or even starting a conversation as she says i do!.

Why is it that I can't ever remember what happens at night!? This happens quite a lot, and I'm kinda worried about what I'm missing or if I'm going to start talking nonsense or something!. :S
