How do Drs decide on who will get which side effect from a medicine?!

Question: How do Drs decide on who will get which side effect from a medicine!?
Such as my niece is on Lyrica for her Fibromyalgia!. My daughter has Fibromyalgia as well but the Dr won't give it to her because they think it has too many side effects!. So how do Drs know, or think they know, who will get the side effects!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Each person is unique, therefore their bodies react in different ways!. Different doctors also have different views and priorities!. Doctors will often collaborate with other specialist - especially ones already involved in a patients care - to help determine the effects to specific bodily systems!. Often times, the decision is presented to the patient, and their input is the deciding factor!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

ALL medications carry the risk of side effects!. Does she have a different Dr than your niece!? If so, make an appointment with your neice's Dr!.

Could age be a factor!? Is she of childbearing age!?

Do not give this medication to a child younger than 18 years old!.

FDA pregnancy category C!. This medication may be harmful to an unborn baby!.

What other medications does your daughter take!?

You may have a higher chance for swelling and hives if you are also taking angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors so you should let your doctor know if you are taking these medications!. You may have a higher chance of swelling or gaining weight if you are also taking certain diabetes medicines!.

It is not that they think some will and some won't get side effects, but more if the side effects outweigh any benefit the medication may give!. Some Dr's just do not like certain medications at all because of the side effects either reported to them by patients or infomation from clinical trials and publications!. In the scope of things, Lyrica is a relatively new drug to the market and some Dr's do not like prescribing medications until they have been on the market for a while!.
