Question: Is strep throat possible if tonsils were removed last year!?
Last year around Christmas time I had my tonsils removed!.!.!. (most painful experience of my life)!. I haven't had any more flare ups of tonsillitis since then!. The past two days I have had a fever and a very sore throat, especially to swallow!. I was wondering if strep throat is possible, since i know tonsillitis is not!. Thanks!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes, it absolutely possible to get strep throat even if you do not have your tonsils!.
Take a flashlight and open your mouth in front of a mirror!. If you see white spots, swelling, and redness, this indicates a strep throat!.
This requires an antibiotic!. In the meantime, try warm water salt gargling!. Take Motrin/Advil/Aleve for the discomfort!. These medications also can reduce any swelling!. Tylenol does not have any effect on swelling!.
It would be best that you make a visit to your Doc to be evaluated!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hello! Unfortunately, I have not good news for you!. Namely, I can tell you for sure that you can get strep throat even you do not have tonsils!. With removing tonsils you prevent tonsillitis, not other infections!. But, if you get strep throat, I am sure that your doctor will prescribe you appropriate treatment!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
strept is a bacteria when it persents in tonsills it is tonsilitis, when it presents w/o tonsils it's pharyngitis!. Still, it's strept, and treated with the same antibotics!.!.!.however if you gargle with warm salt h20 it will give you some relief!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
Yes, it's possible to get strep after having tonsils removed!. My son had his tonsils removed last year and his ENT said that he still had a 10% chance of getting strep with the tonsils removed!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
I'm not 100% sure of this answer, but my tonsils have been removed when I was a kid, and I havent had strep throat since then!! Www@Answer-Health@Com
