but i CANNOT get hooked on smoking, seriously!
i cannot tell anyone either, i need to quit on my own but it is soooo damn hard!.!.!.
any help would be apreciated!.

ah dont worry, you're not emo, i went through the same things, still am!.!.!. im 15!. started way too much **** when i was 11!. smoking's addictive, the worlds most addictive drug, you can quit cold turkey, OR chew gum whenever you feel stressed, sounds lame but while you're young it can work!. think about it!.!.!. quit now by just saying no, or end up with lung cancer and talking like a man by your 40's!? as for cutting!.!.!. no matter how 'dumb' this may sound, a guidance counsler at school can help!.!.!. they wont judge you, believe me!. you wont be the first and last person to go through these things!. or you could always talk to a friend, or me, i try and help people going thorugh the things i went thorugh!. its always nice to talk to someone you know!?

Ok, so as for smoking, there is a hot line you can speak -1800 QUIT -
that can help you with your problems in smoking!.
As for cutting, I understand it becomes emotionally addictive!. Because it releases alot of emotions!.
But it's bad for your health!. Try other means, from music, to distracting yourself (e!.g games) to even crying, as mad as it may sound!. Anything to release some of your emotions!. Good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

the first thing you need to do to quit something is stop lying to yourself!.!.!.face it kid, your emo as hell!. the easiest way to quit anything is to ask for help!.

Yeah you really do need to stop both of those things
luckily you are 13 so there is definitely time to change aka you will not be like this for the rest of your life if you get a jump on it now
I am only 15 and have only had one cigarette in my life so I am not too sure how it feels to go through withdrawl for smoking, but I can guess because I have been addicted to things (and people!.!.!.but thats another story haha)

Some ideas to stop:
- I had a friend who put a rubber band around her wrist and every time she got the urge to smoke she snapped it against her wrist
- You could try clove cigarettes
- You could try the patch
- You REALLY have to be determined and WANTt o quit or it won't happen
- Don't say!.!.!.oh just one more because that will really hurt your wil power for next time
- Get rid of your cigarettes so you have to go through more to get more and will have more time to think about it
- It would probably help (though it would be gross) to google pictures of smoke damaged lungs and the number of smoking deaths and those gross looking prematurely wrinkled women

As to the cutting:
- Think how you AREN"T an emo and don't want to be called one!.!.!.and cutting does make you an emo!.!.!.sorry :(
- Get your anger out in other ways, punch a pillow, listen to loud music, go on a run (stopping smoking will make this easier)
- Don't think the cuts are cool or mature!.!.!.if you are ashamed of them you will want to stop
- Be happier! life isn't bad and you should not have to cut yourself to deal with it

I hate to break it to you, but if you are having a hard time quitting, you are probably already hooked!. (Hooked just means addicted!.) I think it's great that you want to quit smoking and cutting, though!. You sound really motivated, and that's good, because you have to be!.

My advice is to see a psychologist!. They can help you sort out in your head a little better why it is that you do these things, and help you come up with a realistic plan to quit smoking and cutting, and provide some support while you work on that plan!. If it seems like antidepressants or other drugs might help, the psychologist would have to refer you to a psychiatrist to get a prescription!. I don't know about other parents, but if my daughter came to me and told me that she was having some emotional problems that are hard to talk about and she wanted to talk to a psychologist, I'd get her an appointment right away!. I would ask questions because I would be concerned, but if she didn't want to talk to me, I'd be glad she'd at least talk to someone!.

Usually, you can expect some kind of confidentiality when you talk to a mental health professional - they are there to help you, not to punish you or rat you out - but since you are pretty young, I would double-check and ask them directly what kind of things you can expect them to keep private and what kind of things they would have to tell your parents about!. I agree with you - that's bull!. You should seek some help from a school psychologist honestly!. I cut since I was 11 and I've recently been able to stop because of my school psychologist!. I owe her so much, to be honest!. She's the best! (I'm 16 btw!.) They may tell your parents but it'll honestly help you in the long run!.

(BTW GUYS - EMO PEOPLE ARE LESS FASHIONABLE SCENE KIDS!. THEY DON'T CUT - THEY JUST WANT YOU TO THINK THEIR LIVES ARE MISERABLE SO YOU'LL PITY THEM AND BE THEIR FRIENDS!. KTHANKSBYE!.)
