Why Are Clinicians At STD Clinics So Rude?!

Question: Why Are Clinicians At STD Clinics So Rude!?
I went to Planned Parenthood to get treated for the STD I caught from a sexual assault!. The nurses and clinicians were so incredibly rude, telling me I got the STD before the assault!. They rolled their eyes when I said I was not sexually active!. Why are they so rude!?

I think it is only you! I think you may have just been a PITA patient!. 1st you go in telling them how things need to be done without keeping an ear open for their expert advice after all this is what they deal with on a regular basis!. telling them you have endometriosis and this is the way to treat it and due to that you must skip periods even after they advised you, you should allow your body to have a period or two you shut them out and didn't hear their explanation about how you are over dosing your body with hormones and the day you do have complications due to overdosing in hormones you cant blame them BUT your previous DR for that!. 2nd of all questioning their charting!. The point got across regardless of how they choose to word it!. That is their job!. You cant go into a surgery and tell the surgeon how they should do t heir job just because you feel your technique is better!. As long as it gets done is all that matters!. Then flipping out about the fee to get a copy of your records! Did you know the information on the paper belongs to you BUT the paper it is written on belongs to the facility!. They are not denying you access to your records but charging you a minimal fee for their paper and time taken out of their day to copy your chart!.

Previously you stated you only had 1 sexual partner so how are you so sure it was this sexual assault!? They do know the incubation period of a specific disease and maybe just maybe that is why they dont believe you!. Or maybe the fact you claim you contracted it due to being "fingered" which is highly unlikely!. If you choose to do peels (which the specific one you claim you had done in office is generally done at home) Lets say yes they did do them in office!. If it was not explained to you the possible side effects (which I doubt) a hand out was given to you to read and you were asked to sign a paper stating you understand the side effects and you signed it accepting the possibilities!.
Lastly would you rather deal with a deformed labia OR having genital warts!? (which by the way NO treatment can garantee them being gone for ever) Would you rather explain to a man that you have genital warts or that your genitals are deformed!?

Nurses get paid very well here in Canada, and the States are always offering big bonuses for nurses to move there and work!.!.!.so I'm thinking they get paid very, very well for their time!. They probably do not believe you, which is unfortunate, but at the same time, depending on your symptoms, it is possible that they know how long it takes to get a severe infection, and how long it takes to progress, depending on what type you had!. Most people are very embarrassed to get an STD and it may be a common lie people come up with to explain it, by saying they were assaulted, so they may just be desensitized to your situation!. I am sorry you were treated that way!. Some people are just plain rude no matter what profession they are in!. I've often wondered if people that obviously hate their job, and hate working with the public should not just get a different job where we don't have to be subjected to their rudeness!. On the other hand, the best way to deal with it is to be assertive in a polite way!. Tell them how they are acting, and that you don't appreciate being treated so rudely!. The key is to say it in a calm voice, like you were talking about the weather or something!. Rude people are used to people taking it personally!.!.!.so to point it out to them and be assertive will catch them off guard and often times they will apologize!. Hope that helps!. Again, sorry for your bad experience Chica:)

Side note: You could also write a well-worded letter telling their supervisors about how badly you were treated!. There are groups for women in every city who will advocate for you!. Look up things like Rape or Crisis Support hotline in your phonebook!. Call and ask them what kind of services they offer!. Your local hospital may be able to help you as well!. Ask the main switchboard!. Beyond your bad experience at the clinic you need someone kind who knows how to help you deal with the aftermath of all this!. Counselling, or just a compassionate ear to listen to you will help!. Group counselling is the most effective as you meet other people who have been through what you have, and you will not feel so alone!. This way you will be able to support each other and help each other through this!. Best to not just sweep it under the rug, as you can end up spiralling into depression or having panic attacks or anxiety for the rest of your life if you don't reach out!. Trust me, there really are a lot of women who have gone through this before, and there is help out there!. Good luck to you!. Hug!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

They are probably accustomed to being lied to!. Symptoms usually take a specific time to occur, and your reported assault may not have allowed sufficient time for the symptoms to arise, in which case, they may have been skeptical!.

As, I believe, will most Yahoo Answer readers be!. Victims of rape rarely find the rudeness of clinic workers to be troublesome, nor would they notice!. Few rape victims would even think of asking about their experience on a public forum!.

of course, I may be mistaken!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

because they were probably just worried about catching anything from you!. sorry, i have no good answerWww@Answer-Health@Com

Don't mind them!. They're just tired of blisters exploding in their faces!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
