Safe to up dosage / anyone else had experience with this? Lorazepam?!

Question: Safe to up dosage / anyone else had experience with this!? Lorazepam!?
Alright, I recently came from the hospital and got checked for stroke symptoms!. There were none that showed up in the CAT scan, but they gave me Ativan/Lorazepam to ease any anxiety I may be having!. The script was given for 16qty and !.5mg strength!. Directions were written as take 1 every 8 hours or when needed!. I took 1 and felt fine, but I was getting ready for bed and took a couple of more and took the max in my book of 2mg!. Note: I've never had any problems/withdrawals with any medicine i've ever taken!. I just feel dizzier than when I've tried similar prescriptions (I've only had temazepam before, but Ativan is much stronger apparently!.)!. I only ask if it was safe since I'm only feeling more sedated as I write this, but I believe I was told 1mg lorazepam is = to 10mg Diazepam, so it's pretty potent!. I took 2mg, so that'd be 20mg accordingly!. Any input would be great!. Thanks =)Www@Answer-Health@Com

You really should take meds as prescribed by your doctor!. A dose of 1 mg every 6 hours is safe as long as you are not on other meds that the ativan might have an affect on or have a medical condition that might be worsened by that large a dose!. Two mg is definitely excessive and will make you quite sleepy but as a one time thing you don't need to get all that concerned about it having a dangerous affect on you!. Be sure not to drive if it is making you drowsy!. If you feel that you need more than the 0!.5 mg you were prescribed you should ask your doctor if it is OK to increase the dose!. You could try other methods to calm down such as slow deep breathing while thinking about how each breath feels, or meditation, or progressively relaxing your body one part at a time starting with your feet!. Hope this helps!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

DO NOT up your dosage without consulting your Doctor!. Also, when upping your dosage, then next time you take only 1mg, it won't do anything for you!.

Please don't do that anymore and make sure you have the dosages straight before taking anything!. It should be on the prescription sticker on the bottle of pills!. Talk to your doctor asap!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
