Having an overactive thyroid generally means your metabolism is increased and this can be dangerous with certain medications!. Medicines are made to metabolize at a certain rate, when conditions exist that effect the rate, problems could arise!. Glad you are going to your doctorWww@Answer-Health@Com

HI and I have thyroid disease too!. The reason that they tell you to check with your doctor is that your endocrine system is not to be messed with!. It could do real damage to your health and well being to add something into your system without first talking to your doctor!. I am very careful about using anything that is not prescribed for me due to the hurt that could occur to my body!. Be very careful using any medicine that has not been approved!. I wish you the best of luck and I won't say it but you know!.!.!.LOL!Www@Answer-Health@Com

With hyperthyroidism, your body metabolises certain products very quickly, certain medicines are designed to be released into the blood over a period of time, quicker metabolism could lead to a localised overdose, with exceptionally quick metabolisms, even normal doses of painkillers can cause acute liver failure
Im assuming you're medicated for your hyperthyroidism!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

because some otc's can change the effect of other meds that you are taking!. for instance, some otc cold meds shouldn't be taken if you have hbp because it could cause the bp to go up!. so, if you are taking any thyroid meds, certain otc meds could screw up the effect of the thyroid med!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

All which over the counter meds have warnings about thyroid disease!? If you take medication for your thyroid, it might interact with other medications!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

thyroid is caused by the lack of thyroxine inside your body!.you may take medication that can cause it to become worseWww@Answer-Health@Com
