Doctors, Medical Personnel?!

Question: Doctors, Medical Personnel!?
I have two questions -- research for my novel!.

First of all, what actually happens when a person has a high fever for any length of time!. I know it can be fatal but why and how!? (As in how high of a temperature and how long, give or take, before it is fatal!? And why exactly is it fatal!? I assume it kind of cooks the brain but then again, I don't really know!.)

Secondly, if you know how a medical emergency like a vicious, if local, viral outbreak would be handled I'd love some details!. My virus (imaginary, I promise) is going to infect about 75% of a population of 88,000 in 24 to 72 hours!. (It's water born in the aquifer!.) Spokane, the city next to us, will be infected more slowly because they treat their water more stringently than the Valley!. So, how would medical, emergency, health department, etc handle things do you think!? Is there a standard response or is it individual by city!?

Once again, let me emphasize, this is a fictional alien virus, nothing real, nothing planned to actually happen!. (Nothing even remotely likely to ever happen either, but I think it will make a good disaster story!.)

Thanks in advance for your help!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
For an adult, an extremely high and dangerous temp would be anything over 104 or 105!. That would need to be lowered ASAP!. High temps can cause convulsions, seizures, brain swelling!.
The best way to find out what type of emergency response would occur in that situation is to look up your (or any) city's disaster plan online!. Every city has one!. That would tell you what you need!.
Hope its really a novel!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Wow! I would certainly want to see it in a movie!. It would be informative and will sow environmental awareness!. I think it is wise to present such disastrous views before it happens rather than let the fear lurk in the unknown!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
