What's the difference between child's and adult's CPR?!

Question: What's the difference between child's and adult's CPR!?
I'm certified for CPR by Red Cross standards, all the people above grade 9 in my town are because it's part of gym class in my school, but it's only for adults!. Are there any significant differences between adult- and child-level CPR qualification!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
There are significant differences!. It depends on the "size" of teh child!.!.not just age!. Some children are small for their age etc!.
On children you would give complressions of about 1/2 to 1 inch in depth vs 1-2 inches in depth for the adult!. You would also increase the compressions to 60 per minute!. One per second!. On babies under 1 yr of age, you would only give the compressions at 1/2 inche depth!. You would use two fingers vs the palm of you hard!. Your compressions should be about 75-80 per minute!. Also for both children and babies you must not give a "full" breath as you would for an adult!. You would give "puffs" of air to the child!. Every 15 compressions!.
Hope this helps and hope you never have to use it!.

I am not sure about Red Cross Standards, but by the American Heart Association standards, you use the same compression/ breath ratio for an adult and a child over one year of age!. The only difference is how much pressure you would apply to the chest!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
