Is memory loss a side effect of alcohol abuse?!
Question: Is memory loss a side effect of alcohol abuse!?
I am 27 years old, and used to be a binge drinker while in college!.!.!. To the point that I blacked out almost every weekend for about a year!.!.!. Then, I quit drinking completely, haven't drank for the last 2 years!.!.!. I am now finding that I have trivial memory loss issues!.!.!. It actually bothers me quit a bit!.!. I guess you could compare it to "absent mindedness" like forgetting where I parked almost every day, walking into a room to do something and then forgetting what it was I wanted to do!.!.!. Going to pick something up, getting distracted, and then forgetting altogether to pick up what I intended to get!.!.!.!.!. Is this related to alcohol issues!? Will it go away after years of not drinking!? What are the long term effects of alcohol abuse!?Www@Answer-Health@Com
Answers:
There will be residual effects of the alcohol abuse, but you've abstained for some time now!. It would make better sense to not worry about them and work on ways you can routinely plan on not forgetting stuff!. When ever you feel or notice your getting distracted fight to refocus on what you're doing presently, you can also use tricks like memory by association etc and writing things down until your subconscious takes over in time!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
My father died of alcohol abuse, it's a slow horrible death and no one has sympathy like if he had cancer I would have got loads of sympathy as a child with a parent dying then!. Anyway he got brian damaged and had to walk with a walking stick as you can end up with bad odema that you body swells!. Also he was a definate yellow colour as his liver was knackered!. What a horrible mess you end up in!. My father was in intensive care regularly, rehab reguarly and even spent a year in hospital recovering, only to come out and drink!. Sad!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
