Insomnia: How can I get on a better sleep schedule?!

Question: Insomnia: How can I get on a better sleep schedule!?
I have trouble falling asleep! Because of that I am sometimes up into the wee hours and then tired all day, then I will do something weird like take a nap when I get home and stay up even later!. My sleep schedule is all messed up really bad! I feel like I have a hangover and I haven't had a drink since August!
I need to reset my biological clock or train myself to fall asleep at a certain time!. Any suggestions other than drinking nyquil and taking sleep aids!? (I've done both recently but I wouldn't want to live like that all the time)!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Try Melatonin!. Melatonin is a hormone produced by your body naturally!. Your body uses it to regulate your sleep cycle and reset your body clock!.

I don't know how old you are, but older people produce less and less melatonin as they age!. That's why Grandpa and Grandma get up at 3am and start their day!.!.!.then nap in the afternoon!.

Melatonin is often used by people that travel a lot across time zones!. Jet lag can be a real problem!. Melatonin will reset your body clock in as little as one night!. Melatonin is available in most stores that sell vitamins, etc!.!.!.!.it's not a prescription product!. I sometimes take some melatonin about an hour before I want to go to sleep!. It does not knock you out, it just kinda lets you go to sleep naturally!.

One thing about sleep!.!.!.try to make sure you sleep in as dark of a room as possible!. Some people are more sensitive to sleep interrupting light sources than others!. Bright lights cause your melatonin production to stop and allow your body to wake up!. For some, this may be as little light as turning on the bathroom light for a minute in the middle of the night to use the restroom!. So, try avoiding light as much as possible during your sleep cycle!.

You need to avoid those naps!.!.!.especially close to normal bedtime!.!.!.like falling asleep while watching tv!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

Try working out during the day and eating dinner earlier!. Eating dinner after 6 is bad for your digestion and might be a reason why you have trouble sleeping!. You can also try drinking some warm milk before bed, I haven't actually tried it but I've heard that it works!. If you're stressed out all the time it could also be another reason why you can't sleep!. I had this problem a few years ago!. The best way to deal with this would be playing some kind of sport, working out, or meditating (might sound weird, but it works to help calm your mind)!. Hope this helps!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
