I've rarely ever had a fever....?!

Question: I've rarely ever had a fever!.!.!.!.!?
In fact, I haven't had a fever for the past five or six years, which was really annoying whenever I felt really crappy in school and had an average temperature, and therefore couldn't go home!. (I rarely get sick; if I'm absent, it's more likely to be a mental health day than something to keep my physical welfare!.) But just this weekend, I've felt the sickest I've felt in a few years and when I went to the doctor at the peak of it, my temperature was at 98!.5 degrees Fahrenheit!.

Is this my metabolism, or what!? I know that when I was about 18 months old I got a really high fever, if that has anything to do with it (they're always asking for medical history)!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

A fever is the body's natural response to, defense against an infection!. See http://www!.health-bytes!.com/fever!.htm!. So, either you haven't been getting infections, at least serious enough to cause a fever, OR you body is messed up and can't develop a fever, in which case, any normal infectious disease should have killed you!. Have you ever gone to the doctor for a sore throat when the doctor might have done a throat culture to test you for a strep infection!? How about sinus congestion or drainage that lasts for weeks!? These maybe an opportunity to check for an infection aside from a telltale fever!. Do you ever feel bad for more than a couple of days!? You should ask a doctor why you've rarely had a fever!. You may just have a very healthy immune system that doesn't allow infection to get started!. Maybe your short periods of feeling really crappy are associated with your period or your body is successfully knocking out an invading bacterial or viral infection before it has a chance to start a fever!. You just aren't accustomed to feeling a little under the weather!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

could be how old you are!. are going through puberty!? if so than your immune system is changing and developing!. you must be very lucky not to have gotten sick for so long but i wouldn't be so worried!.

if you are not going through puberty then have you changed your diet or the environment you live in!? have started to do things you didn't before!?

getting sick is inevitable in the end!. you can't prevent it!. we all get sick every once and a while, some more than others!. don't be too worried, just stick to the routine your mum taught you, stay in bed keep warm, takes some meds, and drink lots of water!.

but if your fever starts to get out of hand or you don't know how to handle it then i would just go and see your local doctor and tell them the same thing you just told me!.

good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com
