Question: Cough syrup w/codeine and drug tests!?
I am really sick and have this bad cough!. I have cheratussin ac syrup, which I believe is cough syrup with codeine!.!.!.If I take it as recommended, will it show up in a drug test that I'm taking drugs!? I'm asking because I am subject to random drug tests and this is an old prescription (but not expired)!. Thanks!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes,codeine is a controlled substance!. If you are subject to random screenings,you just mention that you are taking this medication!. It is when you don't mention it that they become suspicious!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
If you have to take a drug test tell them you are taking it!. Sometimes they don't test the sample, sometimes they test it and if it comes back hot you have to produce the prescription and retest!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
it might show up!. however, show them the prescription beforehand and tell them whats going on!. obviously you cant help the fact that you're sick and on meds because of it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
