Answers:
Menarch (the beginning of menstruation) usually happens in "Stage 4" of puberty, but can happen late in Stage 3 as well!. While there are no real "signs" of an impending first period, there are signs that may let you know when it is likely to happen!. Use the following guide to see where in puberty you are, and you'll get an idea of when your first period may happen!.

Five Stages of Puberty - Girls

1 Age Range: Usually 8-11
In Stage 1 there are no outside signs of development, but a girl's ovaries are enlarging and hormone production is beginning!.

2 Age Range: Usually 8-14!. Average: 11-12
The first sign is typically the beginning of breast growth, including "breast buds!." A girl may also grow considerable height and weight!. The first signs of pubic hair start out fine and straight, rather than curly!.

3 Age Range: Usually 9-15!. Average: 12-13
Breast growth continues, and pubic hair coarsens and becomes darker, but there still isn't a lot of it!. Your body is still growing, and your vagina is enlarging and may begin to produce a clear or whitish discharge, which is a normal self-cleansing process!. Some girls get their first menstrual periods late in this stage!.

4 Age Range: Usually 10-16!. Average: 13-14
Pubic hair growth takes on the triangular shape of adulthood, but doesn't quite cover the entire area!. Underarm hair is likely to appear in this stage, as is menarche!. Ovulation (release of egg cells) begins in some girls, but typically not in a regular monthly routine until Stage 5!.

5 Age Range: Usually 12-19!. Average: 15
This is the final stage of development, when a girl is physically an adult!. Breast and pubic hair growth are complete, and your full height is usually attained by this point!. Menstrual periods are well established, and ovulation occurs monthly!.

Hope this has helped!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The breasts start to get bigger and may become more sensitive!. You may also find that you are sweating a bit more and you are starting to grow pubic and underarm hair!. You will probably start to notice discharge!. It may get darker now and then which probably signifies that you are about to start your periods because the body has started to release eggs!. But don't worry if you haven't got any of these things because everyone goes through puberty at different stages with most people going through it between 11 and 17!. But if you are worried at all you should go and see your GP just to make sure everything is ok!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It varies from one girl to another, the best way to get an idea when it will all kick off is to ask your mum, nan, sisters when they developed although it doesn't always follow!.
I think 13/14 is the average age for periods to have started, but certainly puberty would have started, body hair and hormone changes!.
I wouldn't concern yourself, just enjoy not having to worry, it will happen all too soon!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Well, in general puberty in girls can start at around age 8, and end by about 17!. So as you can see, there's 9 years in which things are likely to happen!. I would say quite a lot of people would be fairly developed by 14, but it is not abnormal to not be!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

its different for everyone!.

i began developing in the chest area around 9 whereas my friend satrted at around 11!.

my cousin started periods at 9!. i started at 11!.

theres no set time to go through puperty!.

16 is normally the age where you should have your period by but in some cases people are after this!.

dont worry to much, it will come when it comes!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

There is no set time for the onset of puberty, everyone is different!. A girl generally STARTS puberty anywhere between the ages of 8-16!. The mean age for menarche (first period) in the UK is 12 years and 11 months!. Menarche is generally the last thing to happen!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

They should at least started developing breast buds, pubic hair, discharge, underarm hair, and have started or about to start their periods!. Everyone's normal though, if you have a concern ask your doctor!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I'm slow too!. I didn't get my period till freshmen year and I was 15! Don't worry about it!. But on average at 14 a lot of girls have started getting periods, developing breast, getting a little curvier!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

The current UK average for menarche ( first period onset) is 12 years and 11 months!. There is however a range of +/- 3 years!. This and puberty is affected by racial origins and also diet!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
