Earworm, is a term for a portion of a song or other musical material that becomes stuck in a person's head or repeats compulsively within one's mind!. Use of the English translation was popularized by James Kellaris and Daniel Levitin!. Kellaris' studies demonstrated that different people have varying susceptibilities to earworms, but that almost everybody has been afflicted with one at some time or another!.[1] A more scientific term for the phenomenon, involuntary musical imagery, was suggested by the neurologist Oliver Sacks in 2007!.[2]

There have been claims "that earworms may be songs or tunes that become stuck in the phonological loop, the part of the brain that rehearses verbal information in Baddeley's model of working memory!. This usually happens when a person sings the song or hums the tune once and then repeats it in his or her mind!." However, this information is not supported by any scientifically published information and was presented only as a guess of an unknown author!.[3]

Medications that are used to treat Obsessive-compulsive disorder or anxiety can alleviate the symptoms of earworms!.[5]Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hm, that's weird especially since you said that you don't have a radio to wake you up and since you don't listen to your iPod before going to sleep!. It is quite possible that it is because you listen to music alot during the day, could it maybe be from listening to your car radio the day before!? there is nothing wrong with the songs not being part of the dreams, it happens to me a lot:) Hope I helped!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

If you have an iPod or mp3 player, perhaps you were listening to it while trying to fall asleep!. If your earbuds stayed in or your music was loud enough that you could hear them even if they did fall out!. You might remember a song hat played when you were sleeping!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

i doubt that has anything to do with it!. i don't think there is anything wrong with having a song stuck in your head, as long as you know that its in your head and you don't think there really is music!. thats when you start worrying!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

No, it's just a part of your memory presenting it self in random times!. Aparently for you it's when you wake up for other people it usually happens when they consentrate or think!. But yeah it's normal!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
