My friend at school got hit by...?!

Question: My friend at school got hit by!.!.!.!?
He got hit by a basketball in the head, and then when my other two friends helped him up, he couldn't remember ANYTHING!. When I asked him who I was, he just asked with expression at who, who are you!? I thought he was acting, but it figures that he wasn't!. Robby helped him up the stairs when he was like pointing at them and saying "What are those!? How do you use them!?"

At the classroom, Ysabel told Mrs!. Stein about it!. She walked toward Carl (the guy who got hit) and asked him questions!. He just kept repeating, "What is!.!.!.!?" and "Who is!.!.!.!?" Even Mrs!. Stein thought he was acting, but then she called the nurse who told him to get all his stuff and go down!. Of course, Nikki went to the nurse with him!.

Later on, it turned out that he had a concussion!. I'm just scared that even if he comes back to school tomorrow, will he remember me!? Will he remember anything, like 1 + 1, or will he have to be moved in the Special Ed class!? Thanks everyone, I really appreciate it!. :]Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
The phenomenon is called retrograde amnesia!. Carl will most likely regain his memory by tomorrow, but he should refrain from basketball and other contact sports until cleared by a doctor!. Guys in his situation are more prone to repeat injury and that may have adverse long-term consequences!.

In retrograde amnesia, people forget events prior to the injury, but once recovered, remember things that occurred after the injury!. Most retrograde amnesia is temporary, but he may never remember events that occurred just before the injury!. But then again, he may remember!.

The inappropriate questions he was asking suggest that the injury was in the area of the frontal lobes!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Thanks for your answer!!

And wow, that's ironic, sounds like acting but I know it's not, memory loss is usually temporary, like a week tops!. Unless he got hit so hard it completely detroyed his memory, then it will never go back, but with a minor concussion, he should remember you by tommorrow or the next day :] I'm so sorry that happened! Poor guy!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Don't get ahead of yourself, Cassandra!. First, worry about the concussion!. Likely if he's back at school tomorrow, it's not that bad!. If he's not, just believe that he's getting really great care!.

A hit in the head with a basketball, doesn't sound like it could do a lot of long term damage!. Keep the feelings positive, that's the trick!. Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I'm so sorry about your friend, but you probably have nothing to worry about!.
Football players (especially quarterbacks) get hit and have concussions often!. It can result in TEMPORARY loss of memory!. Given time, your friend will hopefully be just fine!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

well it depend how bad the concussion is!. if it's minor then he will remember a few things but not alot!. if it's major and he needs surgery he will totally forget you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

A concussion is only temporary!. He should be fine in a few days!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
