Question: Long question but need some good answers please!?
Husband is on medical leave and insurance runs out end of this month!. He had 6 mos of med leave with pancreatic cancer( terminal) and chemo, he qualified for social security disablity benefits, question is at age 58 would he be able to qualify for medicare( i know kidney pts and lou gehrigs pts do)!? He qualifies for medicaid and the hospital is providing financial assistance for his chemo and care!. Thanks and if you have or know someone with experience with this that is great! For some stupid reason when you are approved for social security disability, you have to be on it for two years before you become eligible for medicare unless you are age 65!. My brother had a massive stroke in 2002 and couldn't get medicare until 2004 and a friend of mine started getting social security disability in 2006 and couldn't get medicare until this year!. If your husband qualifies for medicaid, it should cover about everything!. Also I worked as a medicaid worker for social services for 30 years and that's how I know about the two year rule, just don't know why it's that way!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
