Question: I recently got startled by thunder and my chest hurts about where my heart is, what caused this!?
It isn't hurting nearly as much as it was a few seconds ago!. I was looking at a picture and this thunder sounded right outside my house!. I didn't jump up but I was startled quite bad and the center of my chest started to hurt!. I am a Marine Veteran with two wars under my belt (late 30's) and it is the first time I have been Startled to the point that I cold feel it both physically and mentally!.!. just want to know what happened to cause it!. I hope this all makes sense and I am not rambling!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Time for you to make a pit stop to your doctor's place to get your heart checked out!.
The fact that you got chest pains from fright, means that you are developing plaque in the arteries and there is occlusion going on!.
I think you had this in mind that is why you included your age and profession!.
The work outs in military camp would have helped you, but MRE's will not, they would have undone alot of it!.
Go for a cardiac stress test!.
Also consider if your parents are in good health, then you are lucky, if anyone one of they have heart problems, then you need to be extra cautiousWww@Answer-Health@Com
