Question: Has anyone had an MRI!?
I think I'm going to have an MRI done to see if I have a herniated disc or a pinched nerve!. Has anyone had an MRI or seen someone have an MRI!? I'm pretty nervous, since I was recently told I have panic disorder (mostly taken care of now, but occasional panic attacks) and I am claustrophobic!. Can anyone give me advise on what happens and some details to make me feel better!? Thanks for any answers!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

There's nothing to be concerned about, as MRI's are noninvasive and the safest way to get imaging!. As mentioned many MRI centers use Open MRI's but it is still a big contraption, and there's still some banging and clanking noises it makes when they are imaging!. (Again nothing to worry about!.!.!. it is just the way it works!.) The other poster brings up an important point!. Let them know you are claustrophobic and if you are uncomfortable with the procedure !.!.!. they should take a little extra time to walk you through what to expect and what will happen!. Remember the purpose of this is to ultimately help you not make things worse!Www@Answer-Health@Com
When I got one done at age 7, I closed my eyes and eventually, I fell asleep!. Don't worry about it, I'm claustrophobic too!. And, I have anxiety (panic) attacks!. If you feel one coming on, breath in deeply, tell yourself that your fine, think happy thoughts, all with your eyes closed, it will help tremendously!. Breath in, breath out!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
I am pretty sure most places have an open MRI now!. So you won't be going in a "tunnel"!. It really is not bad!. Just make sure you relax & don't move!. You can also tell your dr prior to having it about your panic disorder & get suggestions on what you can do to ease your mind about it!. Good Luck!!!Www@Answer-Health@Com
