my friend, I've had the exact same thing (soar throat, watery eyes, runny nose, coughing, chest pain) for the last week (since last monday) and I went to the doctor on Saturday and he said, "just wait it out" He didn't give me any prescription!. He actually told he just had the same too!. I could also barely speak, I had to call in sick at work since my whole job depends on me speaking!.
Take Cepacol, it will numb your throat so it won't hurt so much!. I've tried it!. Unfortunately, the throat pain will be worse in the mornings since all the mucous has accumulated over night!.
The doctor said that for that HE took one tylenol and one ibuprofen at night!. For the fever take two tylenols, they work just fine!.
I started with fever, then went on to soar throat for most of the week!. The soar throat has lessened, but now I'm coughing a lot and my chest hurts!. Drink lots of liquids so that mucous does not accumulate as badly!.
So these are the things that I've tried and have made things a bit more bearable!.

hot tea with honey and lemon
tylenol for the fever and the throat pain
Cepacol for the throat pain
tylenol and ibuprofen at night
Mucinex extra strength for the cough and mucous
a pharmacist told me to do gargles with salt water, I tried with baking soda instead of salt--warm water though!.

These are all recommendations of doctors, nurses and pharmacists!.

It will always be worse in the morning!. Clear your nose as soon as you get up so the throat pain goes away!. I've been waking up with a lot of pain on the throat, but as soon as I clear my nose and get all that junk out, the pain goes down considerably!.
I'm hoping this will go away by wednesday for me!. Remember, drink lots of liquids: water, gatorade specially!.
I guess you can try the ice cream for the soar throat, but I'd go for the Cepacol, you can take one after the other if you want!.
Like I said I went to the doctor and he said, "I'm sorry than I can't give you something that can magically can take it away"!.
It if continues tomorrow tuesday then go to a doctor just to make sure it's not something more serious!.
They gave me strap throat test and it was negative!. He told me to return on wednesday for more test if I was still feeling bad!. This was on saturday, but I've been bad since last monday!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

suck on a zinc lozenge (cherry flavored, at least 4 mg per tablet) at the same time you have taken 1000 mg of Vitamin C and about 4 to 6 capsules or tablets of echinacea!.

These three together will completely cure a cold!. It should be gone within two hours, maybe even one!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

oooo sounds like strep throat!. not fun!. you need to go to the dr!. and get tested!. strep throat is minor, but also one of those things that if you don't get treated it might lead to much bigger problems!.!.!.like heart failure!.

but to make it feel better, ice pops always help me!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

you should definitely get it checked out, but until then, ice pops are usually the only thing that i can handle when i get a bad sore throatWww@Answer-Health@Com
