Ok quite an embarassing question about pooing!!!!?!

why when i get the urge to poo do i stop my self and hold it in!?!?!? even if im just at home on my own i still do it!?

please dont tell me its bad to do that!.!.!. i already know that!.!.!. i just cant help myself, it used to be really bad as a child, id hold it in for a week at a time now im older its not so bad i'll just put it off once then go a few hourse later
