Why am I having trouble breathing?!

Question: Why am I having trouble breathing!?
Lately I have been really really stressed and I did nothing but cry for like 2 hours!. Shortly before that breakdown I found that I couldn't take a deep breath, like something was stopping me!. I still can breathe but I can only take a deep breath every once in awhile!. I recently decided to give up smoking if that helps!. I have only been doing it for a few months and I just decided I didn't need it and I'm completely fine without it but that might have something to do with it!. Also, for a short time my face starting tingling , it was like that for maybe 2 or 3 minutes and just went away, idk what that would have to do with anything though

Please help me, I don't know what to think and I'm starting to get worried!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

you are having anxiety!. it comes in small attacks and large attacks!. i've suffered from it for several years!. sometimes i will go weeks with that feeling of not being able to take a deep breath, and then have and attack, get tingly and dizzy and feel like i'm dying!. then it passes!.!.!.and what do ya know!? i'm alive!. the thing is!.!.!.the harder you try to take deep breaths and can't!.!.!.its freaks you out more and causes more panic!. just try to occupy your mind!. you may not be able to at first, it took me years to get it under control and still sometimes i can't control it!. you're going to be ok though!. you may want to visit your doc to discuss some meds that can help!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Stress constricts airways and changes breathing mechanisms by altering certain hormones released during respiration!. When you get stressed out, breathe in deeply!.

Quitting smoking should help tremendously as well!. All of the carcinogens build up in your lung tissue and your lungs cannot exchange gases as efficiently as needed!.

You may also have a form of asthma or allergies, so I would check with your physician!. They can administer a spirometer test (tests your lung capacities) and correctly diagnose what is wrong with you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You should go and see a doctor!. I remember when I was younger I used to have a tingling in my face as well, but that only happened when I was feeling sick!. The hard breathing is probably because of the smoking, be proud of yourself that you have actually given up!. Many people can't!. The hard breathing may also be a sign of asthma!. How long were you smoking for and how old are you!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Sounds like your having panic attacks, you might want to consult with your family doctor!. You might need meds you might not just communicate with your doctor about your issues!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Its called Hyperventilation!.

http://en!.wikipedia!.org/wiki/Hyperventil!.!.!.

"The first step that should be taken is to treat the underlying cause of the hyperventilation!. The patient should be encouraged to control their breathing!. If this cannot be achieved, supplemental oxygen may be given to reduce tissue hypoxia!. Oxygen therapy should be continued until a hypoxic episode has been clinically discounted!. Paper bag re-breathing is not recommended as it decreases inspired oxygen which endangers the patient who is already hypoxic!.

Make the patient lie in semi-erect position!. If patient is conscious, ask him/her to rebreath into paper bags to increase inspired co2 and to overcome alkalization!. If the patient is unconscious, maintain proper airway until he/she regains consciousness!. This condition is a self limiting one and eventually the patient will settle!. Drug management is done if necessary!. Parenteral drugs may have to be administered to reduce the patients anxiety and to slow the rate of breathing!. The drugs of choice in this situation are diazepam or midazolam!. If possible drugs should be administered intravenously!. In which case it is titrated until the patient is able to control breathing!. The dose is approximately 10 to 15 mg diazepam, or 3 to 5 mg midazolam, for the average adult!."
