Trouble Speaking - Possible Impediment?!

Question: Trouble Speaking - Possible Impediment!?
I've always had a lot of trouble speaking and I've always had since I was a little girl!. I can hear the words correctly in my head, but when I go to verbalize them nothing comes out correctly!. I often stutter or lose my train of thought!.

I'm also wondering if this could be related to my reading skills!. I've always been an extremely fast reader, so as I'm pronouncing the beginning of a sentence, I'm already reading the end of it!.

On top of that, I have a lisp that makes it very difficult to pronounce the "th" sound!. "The" becomes "da," "this" becomes, "dis," and "that" becomes "dat!."

The oddest thing with my lisp is that I can pronounce words in other languages perfectly!. The trouble speaking remains, but the lisp goes away!.

So, I'm wondering if there is anything I can do about my troubles speaking or if it is too late for me!. I'm sixteen, well above the usual norm for lisps and speaking problems!.

Thanks!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Some medications that other stutterers have tried include lorazepam, citalopram, celexa, and buspar!. Ask your doctor about trying an anti-anxiety medication while you are working on your stuttering!. Be aware that your stuttering may be better than the side-effects of the medication, though!.

Each stutterer is different, and a therapist who specializes in treating stuttering will be able to determine what will help you the most as they work with you!.
